Gratitude Friday

Good morning! Grab a cup of coffee or a cup of tea and share your gratitude list with me today!

1. being able to teach with the best of the best (the verse about "Iron sharpens Iron" comes to mind. I have trained with these teachers, I've watched them in action, I teach in their classrooms and I continue to glean from their expertise!) I am blessed!

2. LOVING what I'm doing for my career! This week I've been in a 3rd/4th grade classroom and a Kindergarten classroom. It's demanding but I keep thinking "I love what I'm doing!" I can't wait to get to class today and help the kids measure their feet outlines with cubes.I cut out all of their outlines last night so we're ready to measure and compare. (There's a song by Sandi Patty about "beautiful feet!")

3. two noisy Beagle Boys. (They're barking as I type!) They might annoy us with their little antics but they continue to make us laugh and we love them lots.

4. a car that's still under warranty for the transmission!! I will be getting my car back next week. The service manager says it's a miracle that I got back from my 800 mile trip without breaking down somewhere. Believe me, I was out in the toolies this past weekend and it wouldn't have been pretty if I'd broken down somewhere.

5. A night out last night with Mr. York. I rarely go into details about him, but he is really struggling and I knew that if I took him out to dinner, we could talk. What do you do when your spouse is upset with you, not liking his job all that much and mad at himself? What are ways you encourage your spouse? I was just thankful he opened up a little bit last night and we enjoyed a delicious dinner together!
Time to get ready for my fun day in Kindergarten. Be blessed, everyone!

There is always that Mars vs. Venus communication challenge. I think women want someone to listen to them while men want you to offer solutions. Sounding board vs. strategy.

I try to make my husband feel good about himself especially when he doesn't feel good about himself. If he doesn't like his job you can't really help him but you can work on why he is upset with you. Maybe you can start a new hobby that you both would enjoy. A new hobby might help take the sting out of a bad working environment and bring a new closeness between you and your husband.

Have a good weekend.

I have to have a Thankful Thursday so that I'm prepared to comment on Gratitude Fridays, now!

1. Longsuffering cats that entertain the kids long enough for me to check my email and catch all the mice within a two mile radius of the house.

2. Satellite internet that allows me to keep in contact with my friends and family.

3. Today, I'm thankful for Dayquil and Nyquil...dadgum colds!

4. My washer and dryer. As much as I grumble about laundry, my goodness, how nice it is to be able to do it in my home!

5. Grace...everyday new, heaping over buckets of grace.

Thank you for inviting us in today, and for exercising us in gratitude....

Hmm... I am grateful for...

- my husband, who is willing to brave Babies R Us with me today and register for frilly girly pink stuff. And my dear friends who are throwing a shower for me, so that we don't have to foot the bill for everything baby-related right now!

- that my old dog is still alive and well, and didn't have any sort of lasting infection that we were worried about last week.

- a house that looks so much better in the "after" stage than in the "before" pictures I found yesterday while finding some misc items more appropriate homes.

- cell phones, so I can stay in touch with my parents while they're in Cali helping move my grandmother and all her junk out of her old house and into my aunt's house. They've been there for 3 weeks and the light at the end of the tunnel is only a pinhole at this point.

Enjoy your weekend!

Kerry, great list! I really enjoy visiting here. I can relate to a husband who doesn't like his job. We have been there. Keep praying, be thankful when he does open up to you, and find little ways that you can bless and encourage him as he walks through this.

Love never fails. 1 Cor. 13:8

Thanks for stopping by my blog today. You are so sweet that I almost cried. I should've stopped for coffee sooner. I loved you list of blessings. I used to give my husband lots of wine, and he would really open up, but now we've stopped drinking. LOL! Communication is sooo hard!
Thanks!!

Thanks for inviting us over. I love the idea of Gratitude Friday, thank you for sharing yours with me. I will pray for everything to get better for your husband, it's hard being in a job you hate.

I will be in prayer for your husband and his job situation. It is challenging to sit and watch when they are so unhappy...keep looking for small ways to bless him, like taking him out for dinner and praying for the situation. It will improve!

nod to #3, we have a lab and a little puppy mill rescue something. Lots of work sometimes but you can't help but love them, what great companions.
Have a good weekend!

Hope you had a great kindergarten day. They always bring a new perspective to things...haha And also that things work out with your husband and his job. Hubby was going through something similar, but now with the layoff, it's hard to think that maybe it was better if he was not liking it too much but we'd still have insurance for when the baby comes in the next few months. Anyhow, I hope you have a fantastic Sunday. It's always great to be in His house and worshipping Him.

Oh boy, I could write a book about husbands having a job he doesn't like, husbands being upset with you, not liking life. Hard times. I don't talk about those times much on my blog....too personal...but I have been there.

What do I do? Pray pray pray. Wait for the right time. Try to love in spite of grim attitudes. It sounds like dinner was the perfect time to spend with your man. He is lucky (blessed) to have you, Kerri. Things WILL get better.

I love your gratitude list...it puts everything into perspective!
