Voice Mail Weirdness

This afternoon when I dialed in to check voice mail on our home phone, I got a recorded message saying that our number had been disconnected! Hmmm, very strange. So I dialed it again, pressed the # button like I'm supposed to and I was told again it had been disconnected. Now I'm dialing in on the same exact phone so I KNOW it works. Strange! Then I got out my cell phone and called home (to the other phone that was on the desk next to me) and I listened to the phone ring five times. I hit the # button and the security code. It worked just fine! Such weirdness. The things that make you go "Hmmmm..."
