I'm happy to announce a PERSONAL UPDATE on my fitness training!
I hadn't been keeping track of how much I've lost, either poundage or inches, because I didn't have a scale that worked very well. It'd say one weight the first time I stepped on, step on it again and I'd either gained or lost two pounds in 20 seconds.
I bought a new digital scale yesterday, one with BIG numbers so these 44 yr old eyes could see the display. Being 5'8" makes it difficult to see down to my toes! (Thankfully it's just the distance, not because my tummy is in the way!)
Such exciting news!! I'm down to 157....last May I weighed in at 178!!! (and I wasn't even pregnant..quite sad.) Clothes fit so much differently and although I'm wearing a size 10, I feel quite thin and lean. There's still some inches to go....and seven more pounds to my goal. The gym and I have become bestest friends and as I train for the Seattle Rock and Roll Half Marathon, I'm reminded every day to not let the committee win. Even when I don't want to drag my hiney into the gym or walk with the Beagle Boys outside, I need to go! No more excuses and baby steps if needed. If you're struggling with losing weight or need incentive to get going, let me know...I'll be your biggest cheerleader!!!
I just wanted to share the exciting news with you...perhaps I'll see if the Duke will take a picture of me in my new dress that is adorable with polka dots! I went to dinner tonight with a girlfriend and ate just a shrimp & spinach salad. It's so easy to remember calories when you know how long you have to be on the treadmill to lose those calories! :)
Happy rest of your week.... remember, NO MORE EXCUSES! :)
"Coffee with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent!" Grab a cup of coffee and join me in the journey of life!

Frustration with Self... On the Injured List
This frustration list is getting longer! I got a call today from my dr and told I need to stop training for the half marathon. I have an avulsion fracture!! I knew it was sore and I finally went to the dr- had an x-ray last week. One week later, the results are back and I'm headed to see an orthopedic specialist. I'm soooo frustrated with myself!!! I know I probably added too much mileage too quickly. I was feeling great, though, and wanted to be READY for the Disney Princess Half Marathon.
In the next two weeks, I'm teaching almost every day...on my feet most of the time! I have a Olympic National Park Institute training coming up next weekend. I'll be tromping through ONP to study the ecosystem! Hmmm, try doing that with either a walking boot or cast. Hoping for the walking boot. I can at least then wear a hiking boot for the park and put my walking boot back on when I'm done.
I'm not working tomorrow or Monday....wonder how long it will take for authorization for this referral!! Please be praying for a QUICK process and healing~
I PROMISE I'll do what the dr orders. But it's FRUSTRATING to be on the injured list!!!!

Christmas Cookie Rules
(from my Dallas/Ft Worth friend Lisa, who is the cookie baking monster during the holidays!)
1. If you eat a Christmas cookie fresh out of the oven, it has no calories because everyone knows that the first cookie is the test and thus calorie free.
2. If you drink a diet soda after eatingyour second cookie, it also has no calories because the diet soda cancels out the cookie calories.
3. If a friend comes over while you're making your Christmas cookies and needs to sample, you must sample with your friend. Because your friend's first cookie is calories free, rule#1 is yours also. It would be rude to let your friend sample alone and, being the friend that you are, that makes your cookie calorie free.

4. Any cookie calories consumed while walking around will fall to your feet and eventually fall off as you move. This is due to gravity and the density of the caloric mass.
5. Any calories consumed during the frosting of the Christmas cookies will be used up because it takes many caloriesto lick excess frosting from a knife without cutting your tongue.
6. Cookies colored red or green have very few calories. Red ones have three and green ones have five - one calorie for each letter. Make more red ones!
7. Cookies eaten while watching "Miracle on 34th Street"have no calories because they are part of the entertainment package and not part of one's personal fuel8. As always, cookie pieces contain no calories because the process of breaking causes calorie leakage.
9. Any cookies consumed from someone else's plate have no calories since the calories rightfully belong to the other person and will cling to their plate. We all know how calories like to CLING!
10. Any cookies consumed while feeling stressed have no calories because cookies used for medicinal purposes NEVER have calories. It's a rule!
I ALWAYS trust Lisa with her words of wisdom!! I'm sure Fitness Boot Camp is happening right after Christmas, huh?
