My mom and dad read my blogs all the time and from time to time my dad will send me an email. He'd responded to my taking time off blog and sent me the most incredible verses and information about the Jews... Here is part of what he wrote me that I found so interesting....<BR/><BR/>I just thought you might like to know that taking the Sabbath year off was a thing that the Jews apparently never did. If you think about it, it was very hard for them to do. They could not plant or reap, pretty scary when your whole society was based on agriculture. And you had to give everyone their property back. Thus the land sold for less and less every year the closer you got to the 7th year, it would have been sold on the basis of how many crops years it had left before it was given back to its original owner.<BR/><BR/>In Jer. 25:8–11; 29:10 God tells Israel that it will be sent into Babylonian in exile for seventy years. In 2 Chronicles 36:20,21 He explains that one of the reasons was so that the land could "enjoy its Sabbaths." It was about 500 years from the law until the exile and there is no record anywhere that the Jews ever observed the sabbath year, until God forced them out of the country. Sometimes we can get so busy that we don't stop to enjoy the rest that He grants us, I know that you will, cause with you and Dave there is always a Starbucks, fruit stand, fish market or other fun place to stop along the way. Me, I'm the other way, always rushing to get where I planned. I think your way is much better, maybe some day it will rub off on me. LOL<BR/><BR/>I thought this was so interesting.
